Looking to spice things up for the holidays? Even your protein shakes? We have you covered with these awesome recipes from "What Mike Eats," featuring flavors of your favorite pies and cookies! These shake recipes are just a few ways to help spice up your diet for the holiday season. All while proving organic foods and supplements can be nutritious and taste amazing!
Whether you are trying to eat healthy or not, the holiday season wouldn't be the same without the taste of cookies and pies. These traditional treats have been passed down as a holiday staple for generations, and with good reason! They are delicious! Just like these amazing protein shakes from "What Mike Eats," where Mike adds his take on these great goodies to the mix!
One of my favorite cookies growing up was always the oatmeal cookie! I wasn't always a fan of the raisins in them at times but the cookie itself was always awesome! On the days where I am reminiscing over my childhood and these cookies, Mike has my back with this "Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Protein Shake!"
To start things out, you will need a Nutribullet cup and 1 Cup of unsweetened cashew milk or almond milk. Now you will add in 2 Scoops of Organic Muscle Vanilla Vegan Protein to the cup. This is where things pick up and we get our oatmeal cookie flavor from! You will now add 2 Tablespoons of Old-Fashioned Oats (I recommend gluten free), 2 Tablespoons of Raisins (always look for organic), along with 1/4 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon! You can then add in 1 Cup of Ice based on personal preference. Once all the ingredients are combined, simply pulse in the Nutribullet until smooth!
Cookies aren't the only sweet that is popular this time of year! I know the holidays wouldn't be the same to me without pie! This has to be my favorite dessert and my ultimate cheat food. I love pie. In it's many shapes and forms. From sweet potato to apple and peach pie, I can't get enough!
Normally all that pie comes with way too much sugar and way too many carbs. Luckily Mike has a few answers to the pie craving without the sugar overload. I'll start these out with the "Pie In A Glass Shake." You will need that Nutribullet cup and another 3/4 Cup of Unsweetened Cashew or Almond Milk, along with 2 Scoops of Organic Muscle Vanilla Vegan Protein. Mike then adds in 1/4 a cup of "Fat-Free Half & Half." If you are like me and don't eat dairy, a non dairy alternative to half and half can be substituted or you can just use 1 Cup of the nut milk instead of 3/4 Cup. Now It wouldn't be a pie without the puree! You will now add in 1/4 Cup of Pure Pumpkin Puree, 1/4 cup of Frozen Whipped Topping (thawed or frozen). So Delicious makes a great dairy free frozen whipped topping for our vegan friends out there! To finish things off you will add in 1/2 Teaspoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice or 1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon and 1/8 Teaspoon of Ginger and Cloves. You can stop here or add in 1/2-1 Cup of Ice and pulse until smooth in the Nutribullet!
If you like your pie a little more on the fruity side, Mike has you covered too! This is the last pie flavored recipe and probably the best! Definitely the most traditional of these treats! After all, what is more American than apple pie? While Mike's protein shake take on this American classic may be healthier for you, it can still give you that little taste of home that many long for.
So, grab your Nutribullet cup and lets get started! For this one you will need 3/4 Cup of Unsweetened Cashew or Almond Milk in your bullet cup. You will then add in 2 Scoops of Organic Muscle Vanilla Vegan Protein. Time to make this thing a pie! Now you will add 1 Small Sweet Apple (cored & chopped), 1 Teaspoon Granulated Stevia and Vanilla Extract, along with 1/2 Teaspoon of Cinnamon. Mike adds in 1/3 Plain Non-Fat Greek Yogurt, but I would use a dairy-free alternative like this one from So Delicious in it's place. You can now add in 1/2-1 Cup of Ice if you like and pulse in the Nutribullet until the shake is smooth.
Now that's a little help from Mike and us to get the taste of your favorite holiday treats this year, without the extra baggage that comes along with the real deal! We hope you enjoy these recipes as much as we do and that you have a wonderful holiday season!
